Nokia is looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Optical Network Planning Tool Tester. In this role, you will be responsible for validating, testing, and ensuring the quality of Nokia’s next-generation optical network planning and simulation software. Key Responsibilities
As a Software QA Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Testing and validating optical network planning tools (e.g., for DWDM, OTN, ROADM, GMPLS, etc.) to ensure accuracy, performance, and reliability.
- Developing and executing detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on functional and technical specifications.
- Performing functional, regression, integration, and system testing on both new and existing software modules.
- Simulating and validating real-world network scenarios using the planning tool.
- Identifying, reporting, and tracking software defects using bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla).
- Collaborating with developers, network engineers, and product managers to troubleshoot issues and refine tool performance.
- Providing feedback on usability, interface design, and overall product behavior.
- Maintaining comprehensive test documentation and contributing to the continuous improvement of QA processes.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in telecom/optical network testing or QA.
- Strong understanding of optical networking concepts such as DWDM, SDH/SONET, OTN, Ethernet, ROADM, and fiber topologies.
- Hands-on experience with optical network planning/design tools
- Familiarity with Layer 0/1/2 network topologies and traffic engineering principles.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Selenium, Rest API) for automation is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
