Job Description: Your Role as a DevOps Engineer

As a DevOps Engineer โ€“ Fresher at GeekyAnts, you will play a crucial role in managing and supporting application environments across a hybrid infrastructure, blending on-premises and cloud solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers, learning to manage Kubernetes clusters, troubleshoot systems, and implement automation in a supportive environment.

This role is tailored for individuals with a solid foundation in Linux, cloud concepts, and containerization, eager to expand their knowledge and skills in the DevOps domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters across on-prem, Azure, and GCP (including GKE).
  • Learn to write and troubleshoot Kubernetes manifests (Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets).
  • Support basic administration of middleware components like Redis, MongoDB, and Kafka.
  • Contribute to day-to-day monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting of servers, clusters, and services.
  • Learn to extract and analyze logs to identify issues and escalate them appropriately.
  • Support configuration and connectivity checks under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Gain exposure to load balancer technologies (Traefik, Nginx, HAProxy).
  • Collaborate with CI/CD teams using tools like Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
  • Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and configuration updates.
  • Participate in internal knowledge-sharing and technical learning sessions.

Kubernetes Management Assisting with managing Kubernetes clusters across various cloud platforms.
Manifest Troubleshooting Learning to identify and resolve issues in Kubernetes manifests.
Middleware Support Providing basic support for middleware components such as Redis, MongoDB, and Kafka.
Monitoring & Debugging Participating in the monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting of servers and services.
Log Analysis Learning to analyze logs to identify and escalate issues.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Good understanding of Kubernetes and containerized applications (Docker experience preferred).
  • Solid knowledge of Linux administration, command-line tools, and basic networking.
  • Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
  • Foundational knowledge of database management (MongoDB, Redis, Oracle, etc.) and message brokers (Kafka).
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and version control (Git).
  • Eagerness to learn monitoring/alerting and debugging skills.
  • Strong problem-solving attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent practical knowledge).
