Job Description

Responsibilities

As an L1 Security Analyst, your main role is to carry out operational tasks following established processes and procedures. On a day-to-day basis, this includes:

  • Monitoring SIEM tools for any security events.
  • Taking appropriate action—either closing events or escalating them when needed.
  • Managing group email accounts and distribution lists.
  • Keeping documentation up to date, such as shift logs and tickets.
  • Assisting MDR Analysts with incident workflows.
  • Helping the MDR team detect and remediate security incidents.
  • Coordinating with external teams to resolve incidents effectively.

Skills

  • Familiarity with SIEM tools such as QRadar, Splunk, LogRhythm, or Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Understanding of email security, particularly phishing email analysis.
  • Awareness of the incident response process and associated activities.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI Seven Layer Model.
  • Basic grasp of IT and information security domains.
  • Understanding of security concepts and best practices.
  • Experience with ticketing or ITSM tools.
  • Preferred certifications: ISC2 CC (Cybersecurity), Security+, C|EH, Network+, or ECIH (Incident Handler).
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, capable of delivering quality results under tight deadlines and challenging conditions.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • 0–1 year of experience in MDR, SOC operations, or incident response (freshers welcome).
  • Capability to work in tier-1, tier-2, or tier-3 SOC environments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and client-facing communication skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking combined with clear communication abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying engagements, work schedules, environments, and locations.
  • Creative and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays if required during incident response emergencies.
  • Comfortable thriving under deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and suggesting improvements to senior team members.
