Detailed Job Description
Western Digital is seeking a talented and motivated Software Development Engineer (Apps) to join their team in Bengaluru. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software tools that will improve the productivity of their HDD firmware development teams. This role requires close collaboration with FW Developers, Test Developers, and the Validation team to understand their problems and needs, proposing and implementing scalable solutions to increase development throughput.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with FW Developers, Test Developers, and the Validation team.
- Support users and troubleshoot problems.
- Propose and implement scalable, high-availability solutions.
- Develop reliable solutions for build and test automation (FTMS).
- Operate critical infrastructure for stable operations.
- Participate in an agile scrum team.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Western Digital is looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
- Education: BE/BTech 2025 Graduates in Computer Science / Computer Engineering.
- Academics: A strong academic record with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 or higher is preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical skills in the area of study.
- Industry Interest: Interest in HDD, flash, semiconductor, components, and nonvolatile memory industry.
- Languages: Proficiency in C#, .Net development. Knowledge of C, C++, HTML5, CSS3, PHP, Bash/Shell, and Python is a plus.
- Concepts: Understanding of Domain-Driven Design, Service-based architecture, event-driven service architecture, API functions, and their development.
- Operating Systems: Experience with Microsoft Windows & Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu) for client and server systems.
- Databases: Solid understanding of database theory & design concepts, SQL.
- Security Models: Knowledge of User authentication & Role-based access control (Vault, Keycloak).
- Tools/Libraries/Frameworks: Familiarity with popular tools/libraries/frameworks.
- Revision Control: Experience with revision control & issue tracking utilities (SVN, git, JIRA).
- API Development: Experience working with & developing RESTful APIs to support tool integrations.
- Agile Scrum: Familiarity with agile scrum roles and processes. Good team player.
Additional Skills
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be preferred:
- Experience with build and test automation tools.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
